An email newsletter from the local concert-scene in Oslo tempted me to visit John Dee to see and hear Amy LaVere from Memphis, Tennessee play on wednesday may 6th. I had never heard about her before, but the mini-review in their newsletter made me stop by her MySpace-page to hear some of her songs. It isn’t (well, wasn’t) not my typical music, but it sounded really good, good enough to warrant a live experience. She plays the contrabass with style, and has a really nice, graceful and slightly rustic voice.

WOW! I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to see Katzenjammer again in concert since their last one crashed with Tracy Chapman (back in october). Back then, I chose Tracy Chapman, because I figured it would be a slightly higher chance to see Katzenjammer again soon, than Tracy.. and it turned out I was right! I was at a few really really good concerts in 2008, and in my mind I have a few “winners”. The norwegian band Katzenjammer, founded in 2005, held a (free) mini-concert at Platekompaniet in Oslo City mall on saturday, october 4th. Platekompaniet isn’t exactly the ideal place for a concert, but in spite of that, the overall experience was surprisingly good (although short)!
It was with great joy that I found that The Zombies was going to play in Oslo the 27th of september 2008. I’m not a huge fan, but I’ve listened alot to music from the sixties throughout the years, and these guys are one of many bands I enjoy listening to. Two of the original members, Colin Blunstone (lead vocals) and Rod Argent (organ, vocals), along with Jim Rodford (bass, vocals), his son Steve Rodford (drums) and Keith Airey (guitar, vocals) were on stage at Parkteateret Scene, and gave a wonderful concert!
